I pray that in my lifetime, I would be able to pen a (or many) hymns of praise to the glory of my King!
One of my favourite hymns is 'How Great Thou Art'. That hymn expresses the awesome wonder of our Great God through the wonders of His great creation. The first verse goes thus.....
Oh Lord My God
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all
The works thy hands hath made
I see the stars
I hear the roaring thunder
Your Power througout
The Universe displayed
Hmmm.. When you and I take a moment out of the hustle and bustle of life to deeply consider the world, the galaxy and the universe, or to open our eyes and really SEE our surroundings, we don't need any more convincing that God's not dead, He's alive and He is such a MIGHTY GOD!
... Lord, I take a moment to consider the clouds, the majestic nature of it. We settle for blue but no known colour could truly describe it! How great thou art!
We consider the sun, the moon and the stars, and we just stand amazed at how 'things' hang suspended in the sky with no visible hold, and give light that nothing else could compare. How great thou art!
We consider the lightning and thunder.. We see streaks of light and hear loud, rumbling noise.. It astounds us Lord.. Indeed how great thou art!
We consider the great mountains and hills, the elements that were there before us and will remain long after us.. The magnificence of them and we can't but say - How great thou art!
We could go on and on Great God.. And your daughter Mobolaji Amusu captures it beautifully:
The picture didn't do justice to how beautiful the cloud and the sun looked. You should have seen it yourself then you would have appreciated God more. God is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful! I remember once going on a retreat somewhere uphill and it was a real experience just gazing at the clouds and the wonder of it all! Just watching the way it moves and that only an awesome God could make it happen!

ReplyDeleteReally really great! :-) *dancing*
DeleteWonderful and Soul stirring.
ReplyDeleteShe is right. Hymms can be very deep. I discovered that when I started going to a church that focuses on hymms a lot.
Very true.. I used to find them boring and 'old school' until my eyes 'opened' :-) ... I take delight in them, even in times of personal worship - beautiful!
DeleteThis hymn was playing on and on in my head yesterday! I was just marvelling at how great our God is, and all His wonderful works.
ReplyDeleteThis post totally made my day, thanks Amusu for sharing this.
Awww, that's great! God is Great! May we keep experiencing the greatness of God in our lives :-) xx
DeleteThen sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee....How Great thou Art, How Great Thou Art. Beautiful hymn that helps us reflect on the greatness of our Creator God.

Fola!! How are you doing hun? xx
DeleteI love that hymn too... Particularly this part - "Most precious, most glorious the Ancient of Days! :-D) xx
God is awesome and the works of His hands are beautiful! That hymn is one of my favorite hymns plus "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and "A Wonderful Savior is Jesus My Lord". Infact, I sang the chorus of the latter over and over again during my personal devotion yesterday. It reiterates to me the fact that God loves me so much and He hides me in the depths of His love. Aduke.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.. Great is thy Faithfulness has a very special place in my heart.. I haven't heard A Wonderful Saviour, I will go look for it and listen.. Thanks fro introducing me to it xx
DeleteI love hymns too.....the message behind the words are so deep. God is magnificent, who holds the sun in the sky from falling, who makes the sea to know roar and howl, yet it never goes past it's boundaries, who can't behold iniquity but loves us so much to give his only begotten son so he can see us through the blood of Christ
ReplyDeleteSykik! *hugs* xx
