Dearest Daddy of life!!!
How are you this beautiful day that you have made?
I come to you to drop a little note of loveee or a love 'notelet'.. :-)
My SuperPower, my soul's delight, Beautiful One that I adore.. Ololufe mi no 1! I have come today just to let You know that I deeply appreciate You.. I really do.
I appreciate what You have done in and with my life. I thank You for the blessings I see and do not see. Today, I want to concentrate more on the ones I cannot see. Those great blessings that You daily load me with yet sometimes are invisible to my human eye.
Sometimes I imagine the kind of revelation and insight I would have when I meet with You face-to-face and You show me the history of my existence. Then I would clearly see all those times You SAVED me.
Those times when I felt disappointed... Yet that was You saving me
Those times when I felt rejected... Yet that was You saving me
Those times when I missed that 'opportunity' by a hare's breath.... Yet, that was how You saved me
Those appointments missed... You saving me all along
The mornings I woke up and rolled out of bed without a care in the world.... If only I knew how much You saved me over the night
The times I felt absolutely let down... You were saving me!
The tears I cried in self-pity and frustration.... Even in that You were saving me!
The list is endless Daddy.. Even as I try to imagine, my limited mind cannot even scratch the surface because You do so much for me... My Daddy who never sleeps nor slumber. Alert to my every call, every cry, every whimper. The One who keeps me in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening and at night.
I am never a burden to You. You always have my time.
Thank You so so much. I thank You for all the wonderful blessings I can count, but today I am especially grateful for those I am unaware of.. I give You praise in advance for when I would be privy to them all.. Until then - Ese gidi gan Baba mi loke! I am immensely grateful.
Love You from now until I see You and even after then,
One xx

Conversations with One: Red Flags Part 2
Two weeks ago, the 1 + The One panel started off the discussion on Red flags in relationships with you lovely people joining in with your great comments (thank you!).... It was very enlightening and we encourage you to read it HERE if you missed it.
One of the strongest points that came from the first part of the discussion was that it is one thing to identify the red flags, it's another to actually be strong enough to make a decision concerning it. Unfortunately some people may be in relationships that they know are no good for them but for one reason or the other still persist.
I will reiterate one of the soundest piece of advice I learnt from Pastor Bimbo Odukoya and that is "A broken courtship is better than a broken marriage". It is wise to be intentional in getting to really know the person that you want to spend the rest of your life with and friendship or the courtship process gives us that great opportunity to get to really know the person we plan to 'do' forever (on this side of eternity) with.
We also highlighted very importantly that nothing beats the place of God revealing certain things to us and this could be sought through sincere prayers. The truth is that you and I can look at another person and try to assess their character with our limited abilities but we may miss fundamental traits (good or bad) that may manifest in the future. However, God is the Alpha and the Omega - He knows the beginning and the end of a thing and of a man so it is really important to seek His face before making a decision.
Finally, before we launch into today's discussion, it is important to understand that there are some 'red flags' that may not necessarily mean the demise of that relationship. There are some things that can be worked on and then there are some that just need a clean clear break - It could be from an individual perspective or it could just be very obvious. At the end of the day, be true to yourself and trust God, committing your ways to Him!
Alrighty people, forgive my epistle of an intro and let's get right into it! Today we speak for the men -
Ms PYT: A lady that is materialistic and never appreciates little effort is very dangerous. She can ruin a man. Also, don't marry a lady that is not proud of you.
One: Thanks a lot Ms PYT! Very correct - it's important to marry a woman who is proud to be with you and happy to show it!
NubianPrincess: Red flags for guys to look out for:
Ms PumpkinUnited: Hmmm, in addition to all that has been said which I fully agree with, I would also include a lady that's dodgy with spiritual matters, she's ready for activity anytime even just staring at the wall for her is highly entertaining but when it comes to prayers or God matters she begins to dull - please run for your life witchcraft is real (on the side of humour though..llloollll) but really though, being a child of God, spiritual things matter to me a whole a lot, if I expect the man I would be with to love God and the things of God, it should be vice versa cause I believe a man or woman that loves God genuinely will think twice before hurting you, so if she's dodgy with spiritual matters, red flag..

WHAT ARE RED FLAGS TO WATCH OUT FOR BEFORE MAKING 'BAE' WIFEY? :-D
***********************************************
Ms PYT: A lady that is materialistic and never appreciates little effort is very dangerous. She can ruin a man. Also, don't marry a lady that is not proud of you.
One: Thanks a lot Ms PYT! Very correct - it's important to marry a woman who is proud to be with you and happy to show it!
NubianPrincess: Red flags for guys to look out for:
1. A lady who just wants to get married RIGHT NOW... Hold on and ask yourself: Is she interested in you for you or just because you can give her a ring on her fourth finger?
2. A lady who doesn't respect you... I can't even begin to explain this one... RUN!
3. A lady who always has to be right... Is her word always the last word on the matter? Must she win the argument or there won't be peace? Be careful bruvs!
4. In the same vein, a lady who finds it difficult to apologise,,. So many things wrong with this one, that all I will say is prayerfully exit that relationship!
5. A lady who doesn't pray... Self explanatory...
6. A lady who can't save or manage limited funds... You will turn into an armed robber....
2. A lady who doesn't respect you... I can't even begin to explain this one... RUN!

It doesn't have to get this bad! :-D
One: Lol.. Lord have mercy!
NubianPrincess: 7. A lady who doesn't encourage you, cheer you up, lift your spirits e.t.c...
8. A lady who doesn't have a sense of humour or who takes herself too seriously... When those "tough times" come, and they will come, you want someone who can laugh with you in the middle of the tears...
9. A lady who doesn't see the potential in you... She may not see it all, but you want someone who sees the spark and who will encourage you, praise you and pray you into the realisation of that vision.
10. A lady who doesn't love you... for You! This goes without saying, life is short and you want someone who loves you for who you are, unconditionally, and tells you as much!
One: Talk about going in hard! Thanks NubianP for being very detailed and keeping it real.

The devil wears Prada...
One: You're right, for me, that for me would be the first sign to runnnnnn!! :-D *digression* I have a question - must she be on the same level of 'spirituality' as you are?
Ms PumpkinUnited: Nope, she doesn't have to be, but the willingness and eagerness to grow has to be there. I personally wont want to marry a man that is on a lower spiritual plane, I don't want a man I'll be dragging spiritually and dragging to church. Haba, I mean he's the head of the home right? He should be head all round, spiritual head and physical head.. I know there are exceptions though when the woman is on a 'higher plane' but I don't envy that ministry shaa..
NubianPrincess: I agree with Ms PumpkinUnited about the level of spirituality... She doesn't have to be on the same plane but at the same time, she can't be a dead-weight that you have to carry around... And her willingness and eagerness to grow in the things of the Lord matters a lot! :)
Mr Motivation: 1.For me one of the stop signs is a lady who has little or no regard for HER family i.e. Siblings and parents. More often than not the chances are that she would do the same to you if not worse.
2. The kind of lady I call "I don't know" kinda lady. No one is a fountain of knowledge but someone who has a penchant for answering questions with "I don't know" is a put off for me. Most men prefer a lady who can bring suggestions to the table.

Uhmmm... I really don't have a clue..
One: Hmm, interestingly two weeks ago we also said that for the woman, it is important to watch the way your man treats his family and people around him.. Great that it is duplicated here too.
Ms MIA: Ok so I've been a bit reluctant to respond to this topic and even the last one for a number of reasons, one of which was that I don't even know the answer but most importantly was the fear of judging myself.
The responses have been tight and really important but I asked myself one question:
If I were measured by these standards, will a husband find me?
Now it's probably not the case for everybody but in the past few months with my Beau, I've discovered deeper things about me that I didn't even know existed or their extent.
I couldn't honestly say that I was very sound spiritually or wasn't judgemental/critical of men or would be there when tough times hit.
However, I have realised that we may have or not have all the 'qualities', but we need to find that 1 or 2 things that will keep us with The One for life. Everybody knows what that thing is consciously or unconsciously and will recognise it whether the person ticks all the boxes or not and they will stick with them to nurture those other qualities or erase the red flags as the case may be.
For my Beau, he saw in me the woman who will never want to hurt him and will stay with him come what may!
One: Nice one Ms MIA.. Thanks for highlighting that. I think like you rightly inferred that it is important to be able to draw the line between red flags and personal preferences. Red flags are usually around character issues, habits or particular lifestyles! Like we mentioned earlier, at the end of the day, we cannot rely on our own human abilities, we must lean heavily on God's guidance all the way so that we don't potentially miss a 'blessing in disguise' or a metal that masquerades under 'shiny' stuff and seems like gold.

Ok folks, that's all from us! We want to hear from you too.. What are red flags to watch out for? Also, have you had to deal with any and how did you deal with the situation?
Let's hear you! xxxx

Music and Me: 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord Oh My Soul) - Matt Redman
Hello beautiful people!!
It's the week after Valentine's Day and the first post post-Valentine (get it?) on 1 + The One!!
How was Valentine's Day for you? Any stories? Any updates? What happened? Oh, I had a blog post all set in my head and I was looking forward to giving you the gist of what happened over the weekend!! Alas, work took the better of my time and I just couldn't do it..
Well, summary of it was that the highlight of the weekend for me was church on Sunday!! (figures right?? :-).. On Valentine's Day itself, I was waiting on all the 'mystery'secret Valentines of mine to come out and declare... Alas, they were too shy.. that's my story and I'm sticking widdit!
Anyway, I had a wonderful time at my cousin's birthday party and I got the opportunity to spend some beautiful time with some of my darling family members + food was involved.. So, One = a happy girl..<3 p="">
Then on Sundayyyy!!! Woohoo! I had been feverishly looking forward to it ever since it was announced in church that that was how we would be spending Sunday after Valentine's Day!! (Have I told you recently how much I love my church?? :-D).. The theme was 'A Love Affair' and oh la la... A Loveee Affair it was!! *smoking*!! Hehehe.. Seeing as this is NOT a Valentine's weekend post, I shall stop here.. If you want to know warrapens, come to RCCG City of David in Oniru Lagos on Sunday to get the 411! :-)
Now, after that very lonnggg digression, we nicely 'enter' in to today's beautiful Music and Me post hosted this week by a lady that I really admire and respect, a fellow blogger who blogs brilliantly at www.imperfectlyperfectlives.com and someone that I randomly run into on the streets (or halls) of Lagos! Ladies and Gentlemen, Frances Okoro does the honours today and before she proceeds, I must say that I LOVE this song and I LOVE Matt Redman!!!!
Ok, let's go, Frances, take the wheel!!
3>
I remember the first time I heard Matt Redman's 10,000 reasons.
I was in my final year in the University and I had just been told that I didn't get to the 2:1 mark.
I had been praying for it for a long time and I sincerely thought that that semester would be when God would give it to me.
If not then, then when?
I had just one semester to go and everyone knows that you can't get a 2:1 anymore if you don't get it before the last semester... right?
It was like "get the 2:1 in 500L first semester or never"
So I cried.
I cried so hard and so long after I saw my results that day.
Final year students were the only ones in school so I locked my door and drowned myself in self pity.
Angry with God for my faith that had gone 'un-noticed'.
I can't remember how I got to play Matt Redman's 10,000 reasons, but I remember that I was playing "Casting Crowns - Praise You in the Storm" and somehow stumbled on "Bless the Lord oh my Soul".
My bruised faith was like "Bless God for what?"
I couldn't open my mouth to sing shi shi.
It was bad, really bad.
Every time I heard Matt Redman say "I worship your holy name", I cried.
10,000 reasons to worship God? When He didn't give me my 2:1? No, I wasn't that strong.
But it didn't take me long to realize that there were indeed 10,000 reasons to praise God.
In fact, there were a million and one reasons to praise God and the lack of a 2:1 in my life didn't deflect from that.
So I made a decision to sing along with Matt Redman and mean it from my heart.
I sang:
Bless the Lord oh my soul!

I sang and I cried.
I sang with the pain in my heart and still, I knew that God is worthy to be praised.
2:1 or not.
Tears or no tears.
Laughter or no laughter.
God is worthy to be praised.
That was the start of real worship to God for me.
God sifted and filtered my faith then and He is still doing that with me.
He taught me what real faith and true praise is.
I realized that I couldn't just praise God when all was well, I will praise Him when all goes "seemingly" awry.
Even in those tear filled moments, God is still God and worthy to be praised.
So bless the Lord oh my soul!
Bless the Lord oh my soul!
Sing like never before oh my soul!
There are 1million and more reasons to worship and praise His holy name!
P.S - I did graduate with my 2:1 from the University.
God suspended every of man's thoughts and mind sets and gave me my 2:1 in my last semester in the University - the semester where everyone said that it's impossible to move higher on the ladder of G.P :-)

Oh, I smiled when I read Frances' post, particular the end... Wow! What a Mighty Good God!
I can imagine that a lot of us have been through that situation or indeed are in that place where praise seems to be the very LAST thing on our minds. When the strength to sing a line of praise seems like a herculean task or even unworthy at that time because we felt, or feel let down, disappointed or had our hopes dashed.. Particularly when we seemed to have prayed and prayed and prayed, yet the outcome still remained unfavourable!
Like Frances said, it may be tough, but if we did a sincere soul search, we would discover that despite ALL, there are still over 10,000 (and even a million) reasons to bless the Lord and worship His holy name! <<< That right there, is the sacrifice of praise.. Praising through ALL circumstances.
The beautiful thing about praise like Frances testifies and demonstrates is that when you praise God, it does not matter how impossible the situation may seem, God is able enough (more than able!) to turn it around in your favour... No matter how dire it looks, praise God... He is worthy of every praise, and of course, He alone has the key to open ALL doors and answer ALL prayers too!
As you praise Him through ALL circumstances, may He turn what seems impossible to a mighty testimony in Jesus name. More than that, may we all understand the true essence of praise and worship - not just in the good times, but at all times!
Bless the Lord oh my soul, and ALL that is within me, bless His holy name!

Would you like to share yours too? Remember it could be a song that struck something in you when you listened to it, it could be a song or worship that you used during a down-time in your life and it made a huge difference, it could be a song that takes you into the 'God-zoneee', it could be a song that helps you express what mere words cannot quite convey, it could be a song that brings a zest and zing to your heart and steps whenever it comes up!
Each song will be accompanied by a story, introduction or reason why it is the choice of the week..

Dear Daddy
My dearest Daddy!!!!!!!!!
I say this with such delight because it's been so long I wrote to you.. Too long!
King of my Heart, Owner of this girl, Owner of my head, body, soul and spirit, my Completion, my All in All, Centre of my Joy, no 1 Love of my life, the One that makes me smile from the inside out, my Perfection, the One that beautifies me, my Crown, my Shield, my Hero, my Guide, my Protector, my no 1 Encourager, the One that loves me so much it's almost unbelievable, the One that makes all things work together for His own.
You are my heart and soul's delight, I delight in You Abba Father. I delight in knowing that You alone are my God. I delight in knowing that You are the best Father anyone could ever have. You are the best Lord, only Saviour, only Redeemer!
I am so so glad and grateful to know You and call You Lord. I am immensely grateful Daddy - words are not enough to say how grateful!
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day (You know Your daughter now, I would definitely mention it to You haha).. I'm not sure you acknowledge the day lol but I know that you are concerned with things that concern us no matter how trivial. Thank You.
Sooo... My plans are not very concrete at the moment but I trust You to make it extra special.. Is it not You? Master Planner! Originator of Love, Author of the best Love Stories and experiences, Owner of Love, Love Himself! Haa, I am too excited Daddy! Whoop Whooop!!

Music and Me: Ordinary People - Cobhams Asuquo
It's another Wednesday!
Apologies for not posting last week's Music and Me.. Hope you loved and were blessed by the first 2 Music and Me posts? I was! If you didn't have the opportunity to read it, you can read HERE.
Music and Me is a music story book on the blog! We believe in the power of songs of praise and worship and more than that, in the act of worship itself. You can read a fuller introduction HERE.
Today's feature is given by one of my favourite guest writers on 1 + The One. Most of you know him by now so he needs no introduction.. You guessed right, it's the one and only Sebastian Luling aka Sebastian aka Chronicles of Sebastian, aka Sabba Sabba aka Sebs :-D
My music library is quite a mixture of various songs: Michael W Smith’s “Awesome God” is followed by “Aye” (Davido), “Emmanuel” (Hillsong) comes straight after “Eminado”. Out of all these American, Nigerian and German songs I don’t have a “one and only favorite” song, but several ones that are dear to me. One of them is “Ordinary People” by Cobhams Asuquo - a Nigerian Christian song which is yet universal in nature. Let me give you two reasons why I love this song:
1.) The man behind the song: The first time I heard about Cobhams Asuquo was when I stumbled upon a strange Youtube video titled “The Gift of Blindness” . I was like “Please, how can blindness be a gift?”. However, four minutes into his speech, I was mesmerised by the authentic, powerful and deep words of a man who had to overcome so much in life and who seemed to be genuinely happy, witty, resourceful, and who was living his life to the fullest - despite his lack of sight!! He talked about how blindness helped him to not excuse himself, to trust people (no matter what), to focus on the important; all of it struck a nerve with me. Even though he never mentioned God in his speech (it was a secular conference), I could tell that this man was somehow connected to a deeper source driving him. A few months later I found out I was proven right, as I listened to his song “Ordinary People”, which I liked immediately…
2.) The message of the song: As I stated HERE, many of us desire to be famous and somehow special. Sometimes I am carried away by thoughts like “Oh, how awesome would it be to speak to such crowds”, “Oh wouldn't it be amazing to publish a book ”, and I imagine myself as someone 'expanding the kingdom'. All these ideas are quite common in a world where we celebrate the extraordinary, the super-pastors, the world changers. While a few might be privileged to do just that, most of us still have to live quite ordinary lives: we have to write exams, go to work, get along with mothers-in-law hehe, and make ends meet. That’s why I love this song so much! Asuquo sings about ordinary people - a child playing in the rain, a construction worker coming home from work, two parents going to church - all of these can make an impact just by living life the way God wants them to, as the chorus suggests:
Let us have a world of ordinary people
Living life the way God wants us to
If we have a world of ordinary people
Extraordinary things would happen to me and you
The stories he tells in his song, the biblical examples he gives and the pictures he uses in his (incredible!) music video inspire me to be faithful each day, instead of just daydreaming about stardom. "Life will be much better“ if we paid attention to these small ordinary things and live out our day-to-day ordinary life with the passion, faith, love and hope God gives us. So if you have 5 minutes and some Megabytes to spare, have a look at his video and convince yourself:
The powerful combination of an inspiring song sung by an equally inspiring man makes this “ordinary song” quite “extraordinary” for me. :-)

To be fair, as popular as Seb's song choice is, I had never actually listened to it.
It is wonderful properly listening to the wonderful words of this amazing and very talented Musician, Producer and song-writer - Cobhams Asuquo as I write today's post :-)
I would leave Sebs to do justice to this beautiful song and tell us how it touches and inspires him! Music and Me people, let's go!

********************************************
While preparing this post, I had the song on repeat and as I read Sebastian's post, I couldn't but be gingered. Such a powerful song - letting us understand that each and everyone of us have the capacity to achieve extra-ordinary things and lives by living and doing 'ordinary' things, but in a way ordained by God.
You might feel like you're not that much because you're not on a big platform or with a wide audience. Perhaps it may be that you view yourself in comparison to others and you come lacking because you're not doing the 'BIG' things they seem to be doing. Well, thank God you are sooo wrong! God has invested greatness in every single human being and it is important and so wonderful to know that being where God wants you to be and doing what He wants you to do (no matter how insignificant it may seem) makes you do extraordinary things!
You being YOU is a blessing to many people. Somebody needs you to be YOU to be blessed. Never ever despise small beginnings, you never know just how extraordinary it is.
So, if you need a dose of encouragement to 'ginger' your spirit that indeed you are capable of extraordinary things, then please turn this song on and play it on maximum volume, until it sinks right in "Extraordinary things will happen to me and you" :-)
***********************************************
Would you like to share yours too? Remember it could be a song that struck something in you when you listened to it, it could be a song or worship that you used during a down-time in your life and it made a huge difference, it could be a song that takes you into the 'God-zoneee', it could be a song that helps you express what mere words cannot quite convey, it could be a song that brings a zest and zing to your heart and steps whenever it comes up!
Each song will be accompanied by a story, introduction or reason why it is the choice of the week..

Conversations with One: Red Flags Part 1
Sometimes, we hear people who develop problems in marriage say that "I should have known or watched out for the signs that this man/woman was no good/bad news/cheat/stingy" etc
So today with you beautiful people and the 1 + The One panel, we discuss Red Flags to look out for in a relationship.
Ms Hope: He should never as much as lift a palm not to talk of laying them on her cheeks in slaps.
He has to address you, his mum/family, your family and even his friends courteously. I mean, we don't want to end up with a grumpy, high pitched guy.
He should never talk you down. One's spouse should be one's biggest cheerleader.
* Don't stick around a man that is lazy or one who can't make sacrifices for you.
* A man that can slap another woman will slap his wife one day.
So today with you beautiful people and the 1 + The One panel, we discuss Red Flags to look out for in a relationship.
It's going to be a 2-part series as we look at it from a female perspective this week and then a male perspective next week by God's grace.
What do you think are warning signs that ladies should possibly look out for in a guy while dating/courting? Some are pretty obvious but sometimes it is important to spell it out..
Before we proceed, please remember that the most important and effective way to know the character of another human being is through what I like to refer to as 'Spiritual Expo' aka Spiritual revelation or enlightenment through prayers - Yes, that's right, you can't take the place of the Holy Spirit opening your eyes to see things as they really are. What's more, not only things in the present can be revealed, but things in the future as well - He is the Beginning and the End after all :-)

Some people ask "but how does it happen?!" Well, first of all, pray sincerely and it will surprise you how God begins to allow you see the true character of an individual - It's usually not set in stone how it happens but it could be in diverse ways.. However, you could certainly start by praying and asking Your Father in heaven to reveal the 'secret' things (good or bad) to you.
Right, ladies and gentlemen, it's important to shine your eyes because some people may see the red flags but choose to look the other way. The danger here is that in the long run, you wouldn't be able to ignore them and it could cause a LOT of hurt and heart-break that could have been prevented.
Alrighty, enough intro, let's dive right in!!

One: Very important. If he shuts you up, belittles you or makes you feel 'small' when he talks to you or by his actions, please check it!
Mr NumeroUno: Red Flags.
1. 'Unholy' touching. If he wants sex before marriage.
2. If he loves her, it has to be expressed in his giving, his patience and tolerance, his undivided loyalty and attention. His telephone credit, etc. If he lacks in any of these areas. If he loves you he will be willing to learn, adjust, step up.
3. If he cannot introduce you to his family and friends. Check it.
4. If he is not accountable to anyone. Run!
5. If he is highly secretive and lacks transparency.

One: I am glad this is coming from a guy! Check check check these red flags. Don't sabotage your future for someone who treats you less than your deserve to be treated.. There is room for compromise but there are some deal-breakers that should make you check and check again!
Ms PYT: My 2cents:
* Flee from stingy guys! Some guys are naturally stingy and shy away from little duties. This is a serious matter because, I have had to ask some married friends if they never saw the stingy traits in their husbands before they got married. By their fruits you shall know them.
There was this particular guy that was stingy and also had long throat. How can a man allow you pay for a drink for yourself and him while visiting him. He does not know how to buy a box of chocolate or even Agege bread when visiting his girlfriend in school. By the way, he had a good job.

Give this 100 red flags please!
One: Yes, I agree. Watch out for the way he treats other people. That's a strong indication of how he would possibly treat you too.. Remember, he's trying to impress you at the moment so he might treat you like a Queen, however watch how he treats his family members, his friends, colleagues and even his subordinates.
Ms PYT: * Flee from a man who wouldn't show you affection or who thinks women are just for domestic reasons.
My friend was in a relationship with a guy who believed that carrying the shopping bag for his girl while she carried nothing was unacceptable. He also believed that she needed to give him special respect because he was older than her. He also believed that it was her responsibility to cook, wash and clean for him. That's enough red flag to run for your life.

Lol.. This got me laughing.. Escape from the friend-zone - broaden your horizon! :-)
One: Hmmm... Some people don't mind that.. :-D
Do YOU mind?
Tell us... What other red flags do you think a lady should watch out for while dating/courting or even during friendship?
Let's talk!!
PS, Don't forget part 2 comes up next week where we discuss from a male perspective! xxxx

Conversations with One: How Do I Deal With the Feeling of Not Being Good Enough?
Hello people!
My prayer is that God will crown this month with great testimonies that will surpass your desires and expectations in Jesus name. He will be glorified in your life in Jesus name.
Right, the topic for this week's conversation goes thus:
"I have suffered a recent heart-break and it has greatly affected my self-esteem. I keep thinking I am not good enough or that no one would want me. In my mind (and people have told me this), this is not true but it doesn't take away the feeling of being a failure/loser..."
Ms PYT: The person in question feels hurt and no matter how you try to make her feel good, that tiny voice inside of her keeps telling all the negative things.
Heartbreaks are for a reason and they make you stronger and prepare you for your next relationship.
This person should focus on loving herself and being a better person rather than relying on a guy to make her feel complete and acceptable. I know it's hard because we all want to feel loved but she needs to love herself first.
Hope your week has been great?
It's the 29th day in the month of January today (well, rapidly coming to the end of the day!). Earlier this week in church, my Pastor challenged us saying that God made the earth in 6 days and that there may be some things that we are expecting or praying about, for God to do this year.
6 versus 29... If He could do it in 6 days, 29 days is more than enough for Him to make your joy full.. So don't think time is still short, God can still complete it even before the end of this month.
Please help, how do I re-build my self-confidence/esteem after a heart-break?

This person should focus on loving herself and being a better person rather than relying on a guy to make her feel complete and acceptable. I know it's hard because we all want to feel loved but she needs to love herself first.
You need to love yourself first
Mr NumeroUno: I must confess this is not an easy one, yet critically important. PYT has kicked it off by stating the first rule of the game.
Rule No 1. Love God
Rule No 2. Love yourself (That is why God says love your neighbour, on the proviso that you love yourself.
Practical steps is to do some things differently.
Mr NumeroUno: A. Sanction who speaks into your life (expunge your friend list, and give lesser attention to those who do not celebrate you, treat you equally, treat you as a person, deflate your self worth or self importance, inflate their self importance. Ie. Some people never call you back, respond to your texts 18 days later because they are 'too' busy. Time to expunge, exterminate and evacuate the phone book/friends list.
Mr NumeroUno: That's right.
Mr NumeroUno: Cool stulfz (in the accent of Falzthebadguy) lol
One: Loll @Falz
I lovee! I was nodding while reading it and it even gave me a boost with my shoulders rising high "I'm a Queen, Daughter of the Most High".. Can you beat that?? :-D
Thanks NumeroUno for the important reminder that it is gender balanced.. When I was writing the question, I actually had some guys in mind...
Ms PYT: From your question, it seems this person has a knowledge of God's love and all...
Asides from reassuring her of God's love, I think there are practical steps:
* Be realistic about bouncing back; expecting yourself to bounce back after a heart break is unrealistic but you have to choose to.
* Appreciate your steps however small
* Get active
*Avoid unhealthy behaviours; Avoid withdrawing from others. Give yourself time to heal, savour your alone time and reconnect with both yourself and loved ones.
* Say NO to misinterpretations and assumptions, and above all you have to reconnect back to God.
- Develop yourself, be busy learning, develop your passion just like Ms PYT said, don't just sit throwing a pity party,
- One other magical healing potent is music and dance, join a dance class and dance your pains away. It works like magic trust me.
- Be around positive energy and say not to negative vibes.
- Intentionally choose to believe in yourself.
One: Brilliant! Thanks a lot for this PumpkinUnited! We must dance away our sorrows :-)
The kind of people we surround ourselves with is sooo important!
There's a saying that goes thus: Your friends are like an elevator button, they either take you up or down...
Rule No 1. Love God
Rule No 2. Love yourself (That is why God says love your neighbour, on the proviso that you love yourself.
Practical steps is to do some things differently.
1. Start with the gateway to the heart. Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.
One: I love that verse of scripture..
One: Very true.. Periodically, it is important to evaluate friendships and people in your life and know when to let some people go.
Mr NumeroUno: That's right.
B. Joyce Meyer is a good teacher to listen to on Self Esteem, and so is Joel Osteen. Faith comes by hearing. At this season, see no evil and hear no evil. Protect your heart.
Purposefully close your ears to negativity.. Guard your heart
2. Add a life skill. Buy a new book and increase the wisdom that comes out of your lips. Go to the gym, go shopping or buy some magazines that can inspire your sense of style, etc. Learn a new language, learn a new culinary skill. It tends to build complements naturally, which in turn will add to your CV and self worth/self confidence.
One: Thank you NumeroUno! Very useful and practical points shared.. May I also ask, how do you silence the negative voices in your head like PYT suggested?
Mr NumeroUno: I always say to those I encourage, two voices speak to you. One with negative energy, and of cause the voice of reason, the Spirit of Christ. The one you agree with is a choice nobody can make for another.

All those people you admire out there or who you feel their swag, are people who at one point in time made that decision to rise above the negative voices.
You are not alone, we have all been recipients to negativity. Make up your mind to discard the voice of failure, low self esteem, et al. Believe the bible and every promise God has made to you.
You are not alone, we have all been recipients to negativity. Make up your mind to discard the voice of failure, low self esteem, et al. Believe the bible and every promise God has made to you.
There's more where that came from...
.... The Bible is full of promises of God to you. Immerse yourself in them!
One: It's very true, it's a decision you make to focus on the positive voice and continuously ignore the negative voice by God's grace or countering it with every promise of God made to you!
Ms TrueTalk: I want to believe the broken-hearted is a child of God and has a relationship with Christ, therefore I'd say as a daughter of God, first and foremost, you are a Queen, of a royal priesthood, a peculiar person, one of a chosen generation that will stand before kings and not mean men. So, who is that man that will or should make you feel any less? If he has parted ways with you, then be blessed because that is his loss and he has made you free to get better options. Being in Christ makes all the difference; encourage yourself with the Word. Let no man make you feel less than what you are worth- the very apple of God's eye!

Mr NumeroUno: Brethren. Gender neutrality please. Men too deal with low self esteem issues o. Lol.
Ms TrueTalk: Lol, Numero Uno. Please by all means, it also applies to guys; my bad for focusing on the female part. All who are in Christ enjoy the grace (both male and female). Just 'mentally' inject 'son','King' 'woman' 'she', 'her', 'she', 'woman', respectively.

One step at a time.. Sometimes, they may be baby steps but keep moving all the same!
Ms PumpkinUnited: I once read a quote that says 'Tell the Negative Committee that meets in your head to shut up'.. It was a deep one for me..
So first and foremost, what I do to help combat negative thoughts is to find positive quotes that counter the negative ones that keep creeping into my mind..
Luckily the only heartbreak I ever had was not man related but family induced heart break. I grew up with a grievous low self esteem cause all I always heard growing up was, you will never amount to anything, and you're not and will never be good enough (but look at me today, over confidence fe kpa mi, lol), it affected me so much and made me run from anything that required taking responsibility or making friends or the like. I just felt I was a lower creature. But then when I got in sync with God, I saw so many things in the scripture that told me who I really was and what I did was write them out and brood on them until it was buried in my heart and mind. I kept looking out for positive quotes and I kept confessing them until they became real to me. So every time a negative thought crept up, I immediately replied with what I have buried in my mind already and it helped.

Another thing is to surround yourself with people that believe in you. This has helped me a lot cause I tell you it's not easy oo. (Shout out to the boo of life and other great people that saw the gold in me when all I could see was potopoto)
