I know that feeling of wanting to meet the guy already!!! Like just know him. You know what I mean? Looking forward to starting forever with him, can't wait to be in that great relationship...
That's me right there too, I love anything that has to do with love, romance etc...
In the past, I used to look at every good guy like a potential dude. I would meet someone who seemed nice and quickly start assessing him to ascertain if he were the one. While it was fun, it was also VERY stressful! (Bold and underlined).. And mehn, I have stories for my kids, grand kids and great-grand kids lol
I have discovered that it is really important to just relax and let God handle that area of my life. You know why? I learnt that I was very bad at handling it my way - checking and checking! I wasn't enjoying my life as a young single girl, I was bothering myself daily with the prospects of marriage, looking out for the man so I don't miss him lol. I discovered that even more than I am, God is interested in my marriage and who I get married to so it was wise for me to step back and let Him take the wheel while I enjoy the life He has blessed me with now.
When a man comes or I see someone I like, I take it to God in prayer, submit His name and honestly tell God how I feel about him. Somehow God either makes him stay or makes it obvious through a variety of ways that he's not for me (sometimes it still hurts! But in the long run, I realise it's for my good!)
The bible says we should not be anxious for anything but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, we should make our requests known to God. (Philippians 4:6)
I choose not to be anxious but to prayerfully and joyfully seek God's face knowing He's got me sorted!
So, concerning your future, husband or marriage, let me borrow these very famous words - Relax, God is in control. Build and enjoy friendships now, enjoy this season of your life that God has blessed you with, trust Him to know that He has got you covered and when that blessed man comes, you will know!
Have a wonderful week people!

I can relate on so many levels. Let's continue to trust God and as you've said, enjoy life and new friendships and find ways to serve/volunteer our time, talents etc.
ReplyDeleteI used to be that way but today, i'm focusing on my business and allowing God be God....He cannot be rushed. The vision is for a set time...'I'm waiting and loving it'..*winks*
ReplyDeleteI am a sucker for authentic voices so you know I am a fan already. Thank you for speaking your truth. I am grateful to God for bringing you to your 'be still and know that I am God' place. It is never easy and a constant handing the cares back to Jesus goes on.....
ReplyDeleteYou know the Bible says he who finds a good wife, right? Which means it is your God ordained hubby's job to find you not the other way round. So the prayer is that what ever might be preventing your husband from finding you, whatever might be 'veiling' his eyes be removed.
Remember you are the solution so no anxious tears. The problem owner, the man walking around 'incomplete' is the one that should be fretting! *smiling*
I used to be that way too assessing every guy I see lol it was crazy. Through God's grace I no longer do that. I trust in God fully now. Thanks for this beautiful reminder.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to this......This is Nice..
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Salt for your response. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it. So so true. The lady is the "good thing" and the guy the "finder" QED, I rest my case. Thanks 1+the one, I am sure this is ministering to someone right now. God bless you and bless the work of your hand. Love you
ReplyDeleteWow! Did Salt just speak the word right now?! (Yes he did- Superb!)
ReplyDeleteDear One, is like we're on thesame level sometimes oh! Me, I know that I'll finally 'wait for God', but my active imagination always likes to be engaged- SMH!
Thanks One, and Salt (wonderful names by the way, lol)
I surrender, abeg.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the convo?
let me see if I am free on that day? I may make it.
Thanks for this post. Very honest. I was like this some time ago until God taught me that not every godly man that crosses my path is the one. Do I have a role to fulfil in their lives? Yes. So my role is to be led by God to do what He will have me do and trust that whilst I am busy walking with him, my hubby will find me. It's been such a peaceful place. Do I have bouts of anxiety sometimes? Yes. But that desperate place of matchmaking myself with every potential God fearing brother is long gone. I am enjoying life and new friendships and simply enjoying the beauty of the season :-)
ReplyDeleteYou're married nau?
DeleteEveryone needs to remember this. Do not be anxious about anything that doesn't exclude relationships. God cares about every aspect of our lives.
ReplyDeleteGood evening One
Hmmh....This is so me. Right now I think God has led me to see that all the fretting and sweating has yielded nothing at all but disappointment. God has shown me in retrospect that all the good things that have happened in my life did not happen by my fretting. Educationally, Careerwise, Family wise...i can count myself a success, so why cant I just trust him on this one. The anxiety that comes with turning 27 in a couple of months even makes it worse. Having colleagues who are married and constantly talk about hubby, kids and inlaws can only increase the pressure. You ibviously are still in the mummy and daddy gist. Worse of all, you are now single again!!!. You can only imagine the feeing. Most times, you just have to trust God ohhh!!. No sweating, no freeting. Though it may tarry, it shall surely come. Sorry for the long epistle.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your comments!

ReplyDelete@Faith, thanks so much! Hope you are doing good? xx
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to this. When we try to plan our life and not let God do his job, he steps back and watches you cos he knows you would need him at some point..when you now get to that point where you need God, he taps you on the back, tells you to step back and then he steps in...I love this song 'jesus take the wheel'. I sing it everytime I need God to take control. The love of God is unbelieveable. I've felt it and still feeling it. Thanks one. Mwaaah
ReplyDeleteI get you dear! It's important to recognise when it's time to step back and just let God take charge. Sometimes, as human beings, we find it difficult to relinquish control. God help us! Thanks a lot for your comment, God bless you loads and indeed take the wheel in your life xx
ReplyDelete@1+ The One: Oh wow!!!!! There again, you sound so much like me. You know when i read "I used to look at every good guy like a potential dude. I would meet someone who seemed nice and quickly start assessing him to ascertain if he were the one."I just smiled (infact i laughed) knowing that that's so so me!!!! I already start thinking "Could he be the one".......
ReplyDeleteTruth of the matter is that its so so not easy.........Especially when you have this burning desire to get married (and not pressure) but desire; sometimes i'm just like "God i'm sure you're the one that put that desire in me; don't let it consume me' cuz its really hard......... But i'm sure HE would come through!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad to see someone sorta relates with me...... i sometimes use to think i was impossible, looking at people and already thinking "is that my guy"..... lol
Please NEVER attempt quitting this blog...... Trust me when i say it lifts people and keeps one running the race
Hahahaa... Mehn.. Those days were serious!! The amount of stress I gave myself was epic - totally unnecessary!!
DeleteYou get me mehn, you get me! It's not pressure, but desire.. I loveee the institution of marriage and I totally love love..
Thank you very very much for your comment.. God BLESS ya! xxxx
